Introduction Blog

Updated: Jul 23, 2021

I thought it would make most sense to start my blog thread with an introduction, because I hope to reach more of you over my next few years of curating my branding business!

Blog #001

My name is Sydnee Lujan and I'm currently living and working just outside of Denver, Colorado.

I'm not able to design and do photography full-time, so I have an average 8-5 office job that pays our bills and allows us to do other things in our free time.

I've been a photographer since I was 16 (now 23) and have been teaching myself true graphic design the last year or so. After losing my dad in the winter of 2020, I realized how much my dreams and passions mean to me, how important spending time with family is and how my dad would be cheering me on to follow my heart in what I do. Plus, why would I want to spend over 40 hours a week working for someone else, doing something I don't enjoy, for the rest of my life? Weird when I word it that way, eh?

So right now, I'm working full-time and spending a lot of my nights on my computer trying new things in my Adobe programs, challenging myself within my graphic design skills. I love taking on new freelance design clients and being hired for photoshoots (especially weddings!) as much as I can. Photography will always be my first love, ya know?

I have a husband and a sweet, small dog named Penelope.

We live in an apartment, hike in the mountains and spend a lot of time watching Handmaid's Tale. Yes, I love my husband so much for that...and the fact that he makes the best tacos ever. He's an illustrator and graphic designer in his free time and he 100% inspired me to follow this path as well.

To be short, I am really doing my best at surviving here! I'm human - just like you - and I'm doing my best at taking care of myself and my family. I struggle with grief and anxiety and taking on too much at one time. Buuuut at the same time, I thrive when I am busy and feeling productive. I love being buried in design/photo work and saving more money towards our first house.

Thank you for being here, following my work and my progress as I figure life out and take you with me!

If you're a fellow designer or photographer, please shoot me an email so we can connect! I'm always looking for more ways of learning and connecting with other professionals.

Signing off, Sydnee Lujan
