A Little About Running Rabbits

I'm a self-taught photographer and have been shooting since I was about 15. I remember my first paid photoshoot - it was for a friend of mine who wanted portraits of them with their senior-aged dog. From there, it was kind of like an itch for me- I asked all of my friends to model for me, get in the lake, wear crazy clothes and even let me glue flowers to their faces. (see my Self-Love Series for those photos!)

Anyways, I'm here in Denver, CO now. Two and a half years working in the print industry lit a spark in me that inspired me to pursue graphic design. I've always had a eye and love for design (starting at about 12 years old when I made my first website Zebra Stripe Photography, yes, you can laugh), but after working in print for that long, I realized how important graphic design is and just how freaking awesome graphic design can be depending on its application.

In May 2021, I graduated with my Associate of Arts after 5 long years. I worked three jobs while going to school full-time for the first year, moved across the country (and then 5 times after that), took a year off to gain residency and save money to pay for it, and last fall (2020), I had to move home to Illinois in a few days notice to help take care of my dad while he was dying. (My last two semesters were some of the hardest months of my life.)

The name Running Rabbits was inspired by something my dad said in the hospital a few days before he was discharged to come home and finish his last 5 weeks on this earth with us on hospice. The nurse had just left the room and it was just us two, when he turned to me with the most serious face and said "We gotta get these rabbits running." He looked and pointed at his feet at the end of the bed, then said, "Are you ready?"

My dad was dying of Stage 4 Brain Cancer when he said that, you know - when he was implying that it was time to literally break him out of the hospital, totally National Treasure style. But that was just him. In the worst of moments, he found a light and shared it with us to keep us going. He worked so extremely hard for my mom until he absolutely couldn't anymore. He also supported us in everything we wanted to do, even my mom's idea to start a vinyl record purse business (where the old records would form two sides of a purse. they were totally awesome for the couple of weeks she tried it).

So, I guess you could say that I'm not really afraid of much and that's because my dad showed me what true bravery and hulk strength looks like (to his last breath) and my mom has taught me how to take deep breaths and be patient for what is meant to be mine one day.

My dream is to build a company that helps small businesses find their voice through design and bring their brand to life. From product and portrait photography, to logo and even website design- a business' success can easily be determined by the way its brand is designed. What does your logo, color pallet or font say about your company? Yes, you should be asking yourself this!

I'm living and working just outside of Denver, CO. In my free time I'm working hard to learn more and practice my design skills. I am always taking on new clients and would love to see what I can do to help you. I really am passionate about design and photography, and if you're reading this, thank you for helping me build the business I dream of.
